Join us for a two-and-a-half-hour adventure aboard the Privateer for a once-in-a-lifetime whale watching experience during prime gray whale season!
With an enormous platform, the Privateer can carry 149 guests and provides an enjoyable, smooth ride on the Pacific Ocean. The Privateer has roomy, outdoor seating and open viewing spaces on the upper and lower decks, along with indoor seating. She is equipped with state-of-the-art electronics and is Coast Guard inspected for your safety.
The exclusive tour includes a short 15-minute ride to the open ocean from the dock, for a full two hours of whale watching before returning. Your ride will be narrated by a certified marine biologist who will share endless wildlife facts about the beautiful marine ecosystem San Diego has to offer. You will observe part of the amazing 10,000-mile annual migration of the Pacific gray whale from Alaska to Mexico. At 30 to 50 feet in length and weighing up to 40 tons, these whales leave their summer feeding grounds in the Bering Sea and make the trek south to the isolated lagoons of Baja to give birth to their calves.
